Copperheads eke out 1-0 win over Oakland

Carmichaels scored an unearned run in the top of the third inning to eke out a 1-0 victory at Oakland (Md.) Thursday night in Fayette County Baseball League action.

Carmichaels remains in first place with an 8-1-1 record. Oakland goes to 6-4.

Gavin Pratt pitched four scoreless innings to earn the win. He gave up three hits, walked six and struck out three. Joe Sabolek pitched the final three innings for the save. He allowed one hit, didn’t walk a batter and struck out one.

Dom Colarusso, Jimmy Sadler and Drake Long all had two singles for Carmichaels.

Ty Wickline went the distance in the loss, allowing one unearned run on eight hits with two walks and six strikeouts.

Sewickley Twp. 5, WBAC 4 – Aidan Werner drove home the game-winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning to lift Sewickley Twp. to a Fayette County Baseball League home victory.

WBAC’s Colby Simmons opened the game with a home run. Simmons went 3-for-3 and scored three runs.

The visitors added an unearned run in the top of the second inning.

Josh Davison gave WBAC (2-7-1) a 3-0 lead with a run-scoring single in the top of the third inning. Michael Coll drove in a run with a single in the top of the fourth inning.

Coll and Trevor Stewart both finished with two hits.

Sewickley Twp. (2-10) scored two runs in the bottom of the third inning and tied the game with two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Gavin Roebuck and Vinny DeVone both doubled for Sewickley Twp. Steve Manon pitched the final 1.2 innings for the win with four strikeouts.

Fayette American Legion

Uniontown 7, Colonial 3 4 – Uniontown built an early lead and the pitching duo of Noah Lion and Tyler Gasper made the advantage stand for a Fayette County American Legion Baseball League road victory.

Uniontown scored three runs in the top of the first inning, but Colonial 3 responded in the bottom of the inning with Brock Alekson’s two-run home run.

Uniontown added two runs in the top of the fifth inning, one scored on Eanh Stevenson’s solo home run, and single runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

Colonial 3 scored single runs in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings.

Lion pitched four innings for the win. Gasper pitched the last three innings for the save.

Uniontown’s Tate Musko finished with three hits and two runs scored. Stevenson contributed two hits, and Wyatt Nehls drove in two runs.

Colonial 3’s Hunter Smiley finished with two hits and an RBI. Hunter Pelehac drove in a run and Trent Wible had a double.
