The beat goes on for Emma Larkin’s record-breaking career as her senior season is off and running.

The Geibel Catholic star, who surpassed Shelley Bortz’ team record of 1,977 career points on Monday, topped the 2,000-point mark by scoring 19 in the Lady Gators’ 87-22 non-section victory over Steel Valley at The Swamp on Thursday night.

Larkin became just the third Fayette County girl and sixth county player overall to reach the 2,000 milestone. She’s on pace to pass Uniontown’s Jocelyn Chandler (2,048) in the next week which would put her behind only Albert Gallatin’s Loui Hall for the county girls and overall scoring mark of 2,440.

The boys county record is 2,245 points by Connellsville’s James Hairston with German’s Sam Sims second at 2,138 and Laurel Highlands’ Rodney Gallagher third with 2,034.

“Hitting 2,000 is special but it is just one moment in a much bigger journey,” Larkin said. “What truly matters are our team goals and the way we push each other everyday to achieve them.”

Larkin wasn’t the only Lady Gator celebrating an individual achievement Thursday night. Her teammate, sophomore Mallory Clemmer, poured in a game-high and career-high 34 points. Geibel also got 17 points from Janiah Darnell and 13 from Alexa Morgan.

Dominique Ruiz led the Ironmen (0-3) with four points.
