Tonight on Smackdown, WWE will host the first of two nights of its latest Draft.

Plenty of mainstream stars and celebrities will be in involved, including current and former athletes, sports personalities and more.

The word is that executives from both Fox and the USA Network are involved in the draft and will have influence.

More than 70 stars, including tag teams, are in the Draft pool with 30 being drafted tonight and more than 40 will be eligible Monday on Raw.

Because Raw is three hours compared to Smackdown’s two, Raw will get three picks to every two for Smackdown.

Tag teams will count as one pick unless Fox or the USA Network specifically wants to only pick one star from the team.

Any undrafted personalities will be immediately declared free agents and able to sign with the brand of their choosing.

Raw’s Seth Rollins will face Smackdown’s Roman Reigns with the winner garnering the first pick in the Draft for his brand.

WWE press conference today

WWE announced on Wednesday that it will hold a major press conference in Las Vegas today, and the topic will either be to announce two crossover matches at the Crown Jewel PPV or maybe the site of a future WrestleMania.

Lesnar vs. Velasquez

As reported in this column last week, WWE was looking at a Brock Lesnar vs. Cain Velasquez match.

Lesnar won the WWE championship from Kofi Kingston in nine seconds last Friday on Smackdown and then Rey Mysterio brought Velasquez to the ring.

Velasquez in the man who defeated Lesnar for the UFC heavyweight championship via first round knockout in 2010.

The duo could be signed for a match at WWE’s return to Saudi Arabia on Oct. 31.

Strowman vs. Fury

Not to be outdone, WWE is said to also be announcing a Braun Strowman vs. Tyson Fury bout for Crown Jewel.

The 6-foot-9 Fury is an undefeated former IBF heavyweight boxing champion and has a 29-0-1 record.

Mania to Vegas?

An outside possibility coming from the Las Vegas press conference is that WrestleMania 37 may take place there in 2021.

Another strong AEW show

AEW provided another solid show Wednesday night.

It will be interesting to see how long it will take WWE to respond to Chris Jericho’s verbal jabs that he has been throwing on the air towards his former employer.

Podcast retraction

Last week, I shared the link of the So Cal Pro Wrestling Podcast of which I was a guest.

I inadvertently gave the wrong social media handle as it is @SoCalWrestlePod.

My apologies to its host, and Pittsburgh native, Jason Marchewka!
