Laurel Highlands’ Neela Hill not only won the high jump on Friday at Latrobe Memorial Stadium in the Hempfield Lady Spartan Invitational, but hit a state-qualifying-standard in the process.

Hill jumped 5-03 to top the field, which would have been high enough to qualify her for the state meet in Class 3A if the standards were in place during Friday’s meet.

Belle Vernon’s Ryan Kent won the discus with a throw of 142-03 in the Latrobe Wildcat Invitational. He was third in the javelin (145-05) and fifth in the shot put (45-02.50).

Mount Pleasant’s Gage Sowers won the boys pole vault in 13-07.

The Mustangs’ Grant Brambley was second in the javelin (154-08) and pole vault (13-01). Teammate Matt Schwertfeger was second in the 1,600 in 4:25.09.

The Fillies’ duo of Taylor Schwertfeger (5th-1:02.45) and Diondra Brown (6th-1:02.65) medaled in the 400-meter dash. Teammate Shayla Dues was fourth in the 100 hurdles in 16:41.

Uniontown’s Grace Trimmer placed second in the 1,600 and third in the 3,200, and was joined by Arrington Scott, Paisley and Charley Murtha to finish fourth in the 3,200 relay in 10:31.32.

Trimmer crossed the finish line in 5:17.52 in the 1,600 and 11:16.45 in the 3,200.

Geibel Catholic’s Emma Larkin was third in the 300 hurdles in 49.06.

Albert Gallatin’s Mekhi Belt was fourth in the long jump at 20-00. Teammate Caleb DeHaven was sixth in the triple jump following a leap of 40-03.50.

Connellsville’s Glen Strickler was third in the shot put with a throw of 46-00.50.

The Lady Falcons’ Sophia Morrison was sixth in the 100 hurdles in 16.77. Teammate Madelynn Johnson finished sixth in the discus with a throw of 99-08.

Southmoreland’s Megan Mehall was third in the girls 400 in 1:01.48.

The Leopards’ Kole Doppelheuer was fifth in the 100 in 11.35.

The Vikings’ Bryson Bankosh was sixth in the high jump (5-09).

Mount Pleasant’s Rylin Bugosh was fifth in the girls 200 in 27.34.
