Frazier’s Ryan Celaschi and Jonah Erdely won individual championships and helped the Commodores to a 10th-place finish in the Thomas Automotive Wrestling Classic, a two-day tournament that concluded Saturday at Bedford High School.

Frazier’s Jackson Angelo dropped his first match of the season in the 172-pound final to place second.

Celaschi recorded two technical falls and a major decision before earning a 4-0 decision over Greenville’s Rudy Gentile in the 160-pound final.

Erdely won by fall, technical fall and decision on his way to the finals at 152, where he dominated with a 15-0 technical fall over Greenville’s Gavin Ryhal.

Angelo lost a 7-2 decision to Cleafield’s Brady Collins, who won the 150th match of his career in the finals. Collins was fourth in the state as a sophomore and third last year.

Beth-Center had two champions at Bedford with Mason Wright and Malachi Peak earning titles.

Wright pinned his way to the finals, where he recorded a 10-3 decision over North Garrett’s Devon Opel for the 133-pound championship.

Peak won gold at 189 following a 4-3 decision over Line Mountain’s Maxim Johnson in the finals. Peak earned back-to-back decisions and a technical fall on his way to the championship bout.

The Bulldogs’ Alex Medlen placed seventh at 114.

Fred Bell Tournament — Belle Vernon’s Elijah Brown won all five of his bouts, including a 4-0 decision over Kiski Area’s Cooper Rososky in the finals, to win the Fred Bell Tournament on Saturday at Grove City High School.

Brown opened the two-day tournament with a technical fall and major decision in Friday’s action before recording a fall and technical fall to set up the final bout in the 215-pound weight class.

Brown and Rososky met two weeks ago in the finals at the Westmoreland County Coaches’ Association (WCCA) tournament, and Brown also won that bout, 4-0.

The junior and Pitt commit scored a takedown in the first period, rode out Rososky in the second and escaped in the third for all the points he would need.

Brown’s teammate, Kole Doppelheuer, won five bouts on his way to the 152-pound final but suffered an 18-3 technical fall to Grove City’s Cody Hamilton.

The Leopards’ Deydon Soto placed third at 139, and teammate Colby Hibner was eighth at 145.

Belle Vernon finished 10th in the team standings. The Leopards are back in action tonight in the preliminary round of the WPIAL Class 3A team tournament against Butler at North Hills High School. The dual meet is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
