Connellsville killed off a penalty that occurred 51 seconds into the game before taking a 1-0 lead with 10:42 remaining in the first period on Mason Mazak’s even-strength goal. Mazak recorded his second goal of the year. He has one assist on the campaign for three points.

The Buccaneers drew level with 7:53 left in the first period on Dante Talian’s power play goal.

The Falcons killed off another minor penalty and the contest was tied at 1-1 after the first period. Burrell had a 6-3 edge in shots on goal in the opening frame.

The Buccaneers had a 13-6 advantage in shots on goal in the second period, but Daniels-Nimick was up to the challenge in stopping all 13.

Connellsville took advantage of its first power play when Nolan Wojnar scored the game-winning goal with a shot from the right point at 5:42 of the middle frame. Santo Crucio and Logan Hause assisted on Wojnar’s tally. Wojnar has four goals and three assists this year for a team-leading seven points.

The Falcons killed off two more minor penalties in the third period, and Sam Denny closed the game out for the home team on an empty-net goal with 28 seconds remaining. Denny has four goals this season.

Connellsville had a goal disallowed after Burrell tied the game in the first period, as the Falcons were called for a high stick on the tally.

The Buccaneers’ Madi George made 14 saves.

Connellsville returns to the ice on Monday against Neshannock (6-1-1-0, 20 points) at Hess Ice Rink in New Castle. The puck drop is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
