Baldwin scored two first half goals and hung on for a 2-1 non-section victory over Ringgold on Saturday at Baldwin Stadium.
The Highlanders’ Bibas Rai scored off a scramble in front of the net 1:30 into the match and the home team pushed its lead to 2-0 in the 20th minute when Anthony Williams headed in a corner kick from Ray Thomas.
The Rams (8-4, 10-7) cut the deficit to 1 on senior Andrew Bottino’s tally after he received a pass from fellow senior Frankie Lowstetter. Ringgold kept pushing the attack, but Baldwin (5-7, 7-10-1) was able to maintain the advantage for the rest of the match.
Rams keeper Jeremy Mullen stopped seven shots. Ringgold had 14 shots and five on target.
Rai’s goal snapped Mullen’s shutout streak at 331 minutes, which spanned parts of six matches. The Rams were on a four-game winning streak.
Ringgold hosts Peters Township (2-7-2, 3-9-3) on Tuesday in the regular-season finale at Joe Montana Stadium. The non-section contest kicks off at 7:30 p.m.
