Gavin Benson racked up three goals and two assists as Waynesburg Central surged past visiting Brownsville, 9-2, to lock up a tie for second place in Section 3-AA in boys soccer action Thursday night.

Dalton Woods had two goals and an assist for the Raiders (8-4, 9-6). Jared Hogue contributed a goal and three assists, Tyler Switalski and Christopher Mori each added a goal and an assist.

Preston Frost tallied both goals for the Falcons (5-6-1, 7-7-1) and Thomas Ruffcorn had an assist.

Nate Kovscek made seven saves and Derrick Tarpley stopped six shots as the two split time in net for Brownsville. Chase Henkins made five saves for Waynesburg.
