Nate Bricker and Dylan Shea homered, and Willie Palmer did the rest in Smithfield-Fairchance’s 3-1 victory over Connellsville on Wednesday in Fayette American Legion baseball action at Smithfield Ball Field.
Palmer allowed one run (none earned) on four hits in seven innings. He had 10 strikeouts and walked two to earn the win.
Connellsville starting pitcher Elijah Small had an impressive outing as well in surrendering just three runs on six hits in six innings. He had one strikeout and walked two.
Bricker hit a two-run home run in the fifth to give his team a 3-0 lead. The Albert Gallatin graduate also singled. Shea had a solo homer in the third.
Connellsville (11-5) cut the deficit to two in the seventh when Collyn Flynn knocked in a run. Flynn had one of Connellsville’s four hits. Austin Petraglia, Cole Shearer and Cade Warrick had the others. Petraglia doubled.
Jace Cappellini, Chandler Goodwin and Josh Szerensci had one hit apiece for Smithfield-Fairchance (9-6).
