The California University of Pa. women's basketball team pulled away in the second quarter and then held off Central State in the second half to return home from Ohio Tuesday night with a 68-57 non-conference victory.

The Vulcans remain undefeated at 5-0, while Central State slips to 2-3.

California led by four after the first quarter, but outscored the home team in the second quarter, 26-16, for a 42-28 halftime lead.

Central State pared one point off its deficit in the third quarter and outscored the Vulcans in the fourth quarter, 13-11.

The Vulcans had a big advantage at the foul line, making 11-of-16, while the home team converted its lone attempt.

Bianca Jasper led California with 15 points. Monica Burns finished with 11 and Shauna Harrison added 10. Brionna Allen pulled down a team-high six rebounds.

Brooke Spaulding scored a game-high 17 points for Central State. Sandra Guilford added 14.
