Monessen made a late-game run, but Greyhounds came up short in their bid to give Dan Bosnic a win in his debut Friday night with a 63-59 non-section loss at Greensburg Central Catholic.

The Centurions broke a 29-29 halftime tie with a 20-10 advantage in the third quarter, and then held off a late Monessen rally for the season-opening win.

The Greyhounds outscored GCC in the fourth quarter, 20-14.

Geoff Helms scored 16 points in the victory.

Elijahwa Payne finished with a double-double for Monessen, scoring 19 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.
