Nick Groover hit two home runs in Bill’s Bit Service’s 5-2 win over AMD Industries on Monday in Fayette County Baseball League action at Bailey Park.
Groover, who is also the manager of Bill’s Bit Service, hit a two-run home run in the first and added a solo homer in the sixth. Caleb Dempsey led off the first with a single and came home when Groover lifted a 2-2 pitch over the left-field fence for a 2-0 lead.
AMD Industries (3-13) tied the game with two unearned runs in the top of the second before Bill’s Bit Service (8-9) took the lead for good with one run in the bottom of the frame.
Bill’s extended its advantage to 4-2 in the fifth when Devin Braddock doubled and scored on Jeremy Saliba’s single.
Austin Bergman allowed two runs (none earned) on two hits in five innings of work. He had 10 strikeouts and walked four in earning the win on the mound. Teammate Willie Palmer pitched two perfect innings with four strikeouts for the save.
Drake Johnson had four strikeouts and walked one in taking the loss.
