Jefferson-Morgan graduate Brendan Howard won both his matches for the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown on Saturday at the Journeymen/Defense Soap Northeast Duals in Troy, New York.

Howard’s day started with a 4-0 decision over Ithaca (NY) College’s Logan Ninos at 125 pounds to give the Mountain Cats an early 3-0 lead on their way to a 25-12 victory.

Howard, who is ranked seventh in Division II, earned a 7-1 decision over St. Cloud State’s Brandon Betancourt, but No. 1-ranked UPJ lost, 31-6, to No. 2 St. Cloud State.

Howard is currently 4-1 this season, and his only blemish is a 3-1 setback in sudden victory to Division I Rutgers’ Malcolm Robinson.

The Mountain Cats are 4-2 overall this season and 1-0 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play.
