Belle Vernon scored 48 points in the first quarter, including three defense touchdowns, for a 61-7 Big Eight Conference victory Friday night over visiting Indiana.

Belle Vernon improves to 2-1 in the conference and 3-1 overall, while Indiana slips to 1-3 and 1-4.

Jared Hartman had three touchdowns passes of 9 yards (Mitch Pohlot), 42 yards (Andrew Pacak), and 5 yards (Nolan Labuda) in the first quarter. Hartman completed 8-of-9 passes for 126 yards.

Pacak returned an interception 26 yards for a touchdown. Max Bryer had an 18-yard fumble return for a touchdown, and Cole Weightman returned a fumble 15 yards for a score.

Larry Callaway had a 4-yard scoring run in the opening quarter and Cam Guess hit 6-of-7 extra points.

Callaway added a 74-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, finishing with 108 yards rushing on just five carries.

Ryan Hamer capped the scoring on a 4-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Indiana's Fox Van Leer scored on a 69-yard run in the fourth quarter, finishing with 96 yards on the ground on 13 carries.
