Gionna Quarzo led the way for Brownsville in topping the field by over 90 seconds to help lead the Lady Falcons to Section 3-AA victories over Burgettstown, 20-450, and Washington, 16-47.

Quarzo blazed through the course at Washington in 19:03. Her sister, Jolena, was second in 20:34, and Ashton Reposky came in third place at 23:52 to guarantee Brownsville the victory.

Teammate Hannah Dewitt was fifth overall in 25:24 and Blake DeCarlo rounded out the top 10 in 30:05.


Brownsville 26, Washington 29; Brownsville 24, Burgettstown 31; Burgettstown 27, Washington 28 — Nick Seto and Ray Brumley went 1-2 in helping to lead the Falcons to Section 3-AA wins over Washington and Burgettstown.

Seto broke the tape in 20:00 and Brumley came in 11 seconds later. The Little Prexies took third and fifth, and the Blue Devils took fourth before Noah Diggs came in for Brownsville in sixth place at 21:51.

Burgettstown took the next three places and Washington had a runner come in 10th.

The Falcons’ Aaron Illig was 12th in 25:48 and teammate Nick Johnson was 14th in 26:46.

Brownsville is at Chartiers-Houston next week against the Buccaneers, Belle Vernon and Fort Cherry.
