Wingeart has solid run in championship

Waynesburg sophomore Aubrey Wingeart placed 10th at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Cross Country Championships Saturday held at Muhlenberg College.

Wingeart finished the 6K course in 21:54.9 to position herself to qualify for the NCAA Division III National Championships.

Waynesburg finished 13th in the team standings.

Geibel Catholic graduate Monica Kolencik placed 142nd for the Yellow Jackets with a time of 24:23.7.

Johns Hopkins took the team title with 88 points. Dickinson junior Isabel Cardi finished first with a time of 20:38.5.


Burns scores 8 in loss to B&S College

Former Hempfield star Michelle Burns hit two free throws in the waning seconds to give Point Park a 75-74 lead Saturday, but Bryant & Stratton College’s Danyea Barclay hit the game-winner with four seconds left for a 76-75 road victory.

Burns finished with eight points.
