Simpson records an ace
Edward Simpson, of Connellsville, scored his second ace of the year when he recorded a hole-in-one Monday at Linden Hall Golf Course.
Simpson used a 3-hybrid to ace No. 16, a 160-yard par-3. He recorded his first ace of 2019 on July 3 on the fifth hole at Linden Hall.

Cole honored by PAC
Bethany (W.Va.) kicker Sean Cole was named the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Football Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in the Bison’s 27-24 win over Geneva. The Charleroi grad went 3-for-3 in point-after attempts and made field goals of 31 and 35 yards. The 35-yarder was in the fourth quarter.
Dillow earns weekly honor
California University of Pa. redshirt freshman linebacker Noah Dillow was named the PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week after setting a career high in tackles in the Vulcans’ 35-20 victory Saturday over Clarion.
Dillow finished with 11 tackles (7 solo), a tackle for loss and one pass break-up.
PSAC-West recognizes Valeriano
California University of Pa. goalkeeper Joseph Valeriano was named the PSAC West Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week for his play in a pair of ties last week.
Valeriano twice recorded nine saves, tying a career-high, in a 2-2 double-overtime tie at Mercyhurst and a 0-0 draw in double overtime at Seton Hill.
