Waynesburg scored the eventual winning run in the bottom of the fourth inning Monday night for a 6-1 victory over visiting Carmichaels in Fayette County American Legion Baseball League action.

Waynesburg (2-6) scored its first run in the bottom of the third inning. The home team added two runs to its lead in the bottom of the fourth, and capped the scoring with three runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Carmichaels (0-7) scored its lone run in the top of the seventh inning.

Kylar Amos went the distance for the win, striking out two and scattering three hits. Drew Miller led the offense with a pair of hits and Jesse Johnson drove in three.

Logan Mayhle took the loss, striking out five in five innings.

Uniontown 4, Colonial 3; Uniontown 11, Colonial 1 — Uniontown eked out a win in Game 1 before cruising to a five-inning victory in Game 2 to sweep a doubleheader over Colonial 3 at Hutchinson Field.

Colonial 3 (3-5) scored three runs in the sixth to cut Uniontown’s advantage to one, but Dylan Bohna was able to record the last three outs in the seventh for the save.

Colonial 3 scored the first run in Game 2, but Uniontown (5-0) responded with three runs apiece in the first, second and third innings for a 9-1 lead. The home team added one run in the fourth and one in the fifth to put the 10-run mercy rule into effect.

Justin Brestensky allowed no runs on two hits over five innings for the win in Game 1. He had seven strikeouts and walked four in throwing 89 pitches (52 strikes). Bohna pitched the final two and allowed three runs on six hits. He had one strikeout and walked one in throwing 37 pitches (26 strikes).

Preston Frost kept Colonial 3 in the game, but took the loss in Game 1. He allowed four runs (two earned) on seven hits in five innings. He had one strikeout and walked two in throwing 65 pitches (41 strikes).

Andino Vecchiolla had two RBIs for Uniontown in Game 1, and teammate Nate Zimcosky added the other. Chad Petrush doubled and Jayce Hampe had two singles for manager Brad Yohman.

DJ Zimcosky had two RBIs for Colonial 3, and teammate Mike Petrock added the other. Zimcosky had two hits, including a double. Petrock, who also doubled, had two hits, and Ricky Marucci had two base hits for Colonial 3, who was the home team on the scoreboard for Game 1 despite the game being played at Hutchinson Field.

Uniontown’s bats were the difference in Game 2, as the home team manufactured 11 runs on eight hits. Brestensky had three hits, including a double, and Petrush added an RBI double.

Nate Zimcosky had two hits, including a triple, and drove in two runs. Kumor had three RBIs and one single. Tyler Becker and Alex McClain had one RBI apiece.

Kumor earned the pitching victory in allowing one run on three hits in four innings. He had five strikeouts and walked three in throwing 64 pitches (32 strikes). Greg Lancaster pitched the fifth and didn’t allowing a run or hit with two strikeouts and two walks in throwing 21 pitches (10 strikes).

Shane McGavitt had an RBI single that scored Nick Keeney for Colonial 3 in Game 2.

Cam Brosky took the loss, but only three of his runs were earned. He had two strikeouts and walked three in three innings of work. Brosky threw 82 pitches (46 strikes).

Uniontown travels to Belle Vernon (5-3) this evening at John DiVirgilio Field in Rostraver Township. Colonial 3 is at Farmington (5-2) tonight. The first pitch for both games is scheduled for 6 p.m.
