Kaitlyn Johnson was back in the pool Thursday morning for the 100-meter freestyle, her second event of the weeklong U.S. Olympic Team Trials, and the Uniontown graduate finished third in her heat with a time of 57.28 seconds.

Madison Wiltrout was pleased with her throws, including her top effort of 152 feet, and fifth-place finish Friday night in the USATF Junior Outdoor Championships in Clovis, California.

As it turns out, those will be the final throws and last competition of the summer for Wiltrout, who opted out of next week's Olympic trials because of muscle soreness in her throwing arm.

LATROBE -- The long wait is over for Madison Wiltrout, although her first competitive throw in the javelin took a little longer than scheduled Friday.

The Connellsville junior threw only once, but the javelin flew 148 feet, 5 inches as the sun set on Latrobe Memorial Stadium for her first throw in 11 months after suffering an elbow injury at the 2015 PIAA Track & Field

Emil Milev was leading the U.S. Olympic Team Trials for the men's 25-meter Rapid Fire Pistol heading into Friday's final round, and the 47-year-old closed with the best score of the three-day competition at Fort Benning, Georgia, to earn the second spot for 2016 Rio de Janeiro Summer Olympics.
