Penn State back in a bowl
NEW YORK (AP) — Penn State is back in a bowl.
The Nittany Lions will make their first postseason appearance since 2011 when it plays Boston College in the Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium on Dec. 27.
Penn State (6-6) originally was banned from bowls for four years as a result of the Jerry Sandusky child sexual abuse scandal in 2012. The NCAA decided in September to lift the ban.
WVU in Liberty Bowl
West Virginia will make its first Liberty Bowl appearance in half a century when it meets Texas A&M on Dec. 29.
The Mountaineers (7-5) lost 32-6 to Utah in the 1964 Liberty Bowl at Atlantic City, New Jersey, rather than the game’s current home of Memphis, Tennessee.
Texas A&M’s only previous Liberty Bowl appearance came when it lost 20-0 to Southern California in 1975.
Pitt faces Houston
Houston will make its fourth appearance in the Armed Forces Bowl when the Cougars take on Pittsburgh.
The Cougars (7-5) will represent the American Athletic Conference when the game is played in January for the first time. The 12th Armed Forces Bowl is Jan. 2 on the TCU campus.
Pittsburgh (6-6) is in a bowl for the seventh season in a row, and 31st in school history.
