1 min read

Celebrate the holidays with a tradition – “The Nutcracker” at the State Theatre Center for the Arts, 27 E. Main St., Uniontown. The classic holiday production featuring 25 local children on stage will be presented at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14.

The ballet takes place on Christmas Eve when the Stahlbaums are hosting their annual party. The children, Fritz and Clara, are excited by the arrival of Herr Drosselmeyer, their Godfather.

Drosselmeyer presents Clara with a beautiful Nutcracker. Fritz, who is feeling jealous of Clara’s gift, breaks the Nutcracker. Clara is heartbroken.

Drosselmeyer attempts to repair the beloved toy with little luck. After everyone goes to sleep, Clara sneaks downstairs to check on her Nutcracker, and amazing things begin to happen.

The audience will have a chance to follow Clara on her journey with her beloved Nutcracker. The production will feature the beauty of the SugarPlum Fairy, dancing snowflakes and the frightful Mouse King.

The production is sponsored by Scottdale Bank and Trust.

Tickets are on sale now. Call the State Theatre fox office at 724-439-1360 Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
