LH students to sing, swing with bard at show
The Laurel Highlands Music and Theatre Department will present “Singing and Swinging with Shakespeare.” Performances will be presented in the Laurel Highlands High School courtyard under a tent Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 24-26, at 6 p.m. Tickets are $12, which includes a meal.
A matinee performance will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26. Tickets are $7, but dinner is not included.
There will be one additional performance at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27. Tickets are $12 with a meal included. Guests are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather.
The evening will be full of madrigal music, songs for audience participation, period-style dancing with a twist and a presentation of “Short Shakespeare: Comedy of Errors” in 75 minutes. “Comedy of Errors” is one of Shakespeare’s comedies that uncovers a confusing plot of mistaken identifies of two sets of twins.
Members of the madrigal choir are Joby Anderson, Tina Bandzuch, Tan Calabrese, Anna Collins, Diana Defino, Shawnta Diggs, Kristin Lonce, Ryan Madison, Samantha Meese, Allyson Nehls, Josh Painter, Mary Phillips, Ashley Priest, Sam Silva, Robert Urban, Tim Wardell, Kirby Wetzel, Clarence Wilson and Amanda Zapotosky.
Members of the advanced theater include Oshir Asaban, Kristen Beatty, Christin Bernard, Melissa Bill, T.J. Brownfield, Casey Crossland, Jen George, Gary Valusek, Kate Webster and Lauren Work.
