AG students to barbecue Hamlet during show
YORK RUN – Albert Gallatin Senior High School students will present “Barbecuing Hamlet” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, and Friday, Nov. 1, in the high school auditorium. Cast members include Jessica Brown, Reed Brown, Daron Christopher, Megan Cobert, Danielle Glugla, Aaron Hughes, Brandon Huseman, Laura Koposko, Jack Rosenstell, Emily Russell, Jennifer Smithley, Brooke Wheeler and Ryan Wilson.
Anne Pallman and Anna Speiker will served as stage managers. Jan Koposko is the prompter. Lights and sound will be provided by Alex Benevent and Molly Newman. The costumes and props were made by Tiffany Smodic and Courtney Townsend.
Jackie Davis and Jeannie Fike serve as directors and Sherry Williams, a student teacher, is the assistant to the directors.
The show tells the story about Margo Daley, who thought that it would be great fun to direct William Shakespeare’s “Hamlet” until she is hired to do it by the Peaceful Glen Memorial Players in their theater, a renovated funeral home.
Daley has to make the play a melodrama so the audience will know when to throw the popcorn. And they can’t be too loud because the lady, who lives under the theater, bangs her cane on the stage.
The show, which is a tribute to life on the community theater stage, includes many eccentric characters. Fast lines punctuate this farce as Daley and her troupe of unwilling actors find out what it’s like when they begin “Barbecuing Hamlet.”
Tickets for the show cost $2 per person for adults and children.
