Uniontown chorale takes show on the road

2 min read

Twenty-five members and guests of the Greater Uniontown Chorale traveled to West Chester last weekend to perform with the Chester County Choral Society. The Saturday evening performance was appropriately called “West Meets East” and was a reciprocal tour in response to the West Chester group’s trip to Fayette County last October.

More than 80 voices sang John Rutter’s “Requiem” and Howard Hanson’s “Song of Democracy.” William M. Dreucci, music director of the Greater Uniontown Chorale, and Gary P. Garletts, director of the West Chester Choral Society, conducted the performance. Joanna Ball of Connellsville served as one of the keyboard accompanists.

The chorale also participated in morning worship at the Grove United Methodist Church in Downingtown.

A post-tour concert, the first performance of the chorale’s 28th season, will be presented at 7 p.m. today in the sanctuary of Asbury United Methodist Church of Uniontown. “The Requieum” will be accompanied by oboe, cello and piano.

Tickets are available at Judy’s Do Re Me Music Shop, Window Designs by Lydia, Amend’s Jewelry in the Uniontown Mall and at Atkin’s Music Store in Connellsville. Tickets will also be sold from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. today at the Dunbar Street entrance of Asbury Church. There will be no tickets sold at the front door.
