CUTV winds five Telly Awards
CALIFORNIA – CUTV (California University Television), owned and operated by the Student Associated Inc. at California University of Pennsylvania, has won five awards at the 23rd Annual Telly Awards. The Telly Awards, founded in 1980 to showcase and give recognition to outstanding non-network and cable commercials, now honors local, regional and cable television commercials and programs, plus video and film productions. When the concept for the Tellys was born, David E. Carter was chosen to be the show administrator. He has published over 90 books on advertising and logos.
This, combined with his strong TV background, a seven-time Emmy winner who produced many sketches for the Johnny Carson show, made him a natural choice to administer to competition.
During the past 23 years, the Telly Awards has became a well-known, highly respected national competition.
The CUTV won awards for the following programs: CUTV News Center, Newscast, Executive Producers Gary Smith and Josh Fosbrink; CUTV Vulcan Football Coverage, Executive Producer Erik Sprowls; Letters to Santa 2002, Family Program, Executive Producers Josh Fosbrink and Christina Kost; “In Neon” Episode Five, Soap Opera, Director Erik Sprowls; and “On the Move” California University Marketing Video, Executive Producer Howard Goldstein, Director Jeff Helsel and Writer Michele McCoy.
“Winning the Telly Awards represents a significant achievement for our students and staff,” said Jeff Helsel, CUTV “On the Move” director.
“We’re very honored to be recognized for excellence in our programming and video productions,” Helsel added.
CUTV is telecast on several cable television stations in Southwestern Pennsylvania, including Charter Communications, Comcast and Armstrong Cable.
