Spooky songs highlight laser Halloween
PITTSBURGH – The scariest spookiest songs and images come to life in “Laser Halloween” at Carnegie Science Center today and Saturday and Friday and Saturday, Nov. 3-4, with a new live laser system. “Laser Halloween” plays all four days at 9 p.m., 10 p.m., 11 p.m. and midnight featuring songs from Nine Inch Nails (“Pinion”), John Williams (“The Conversation”), The Crue (“Lullaby”), Stevie Wonder (“Superstition”), Ray Parker Jr. (“Ghostbusters”) and INXS (“Devil Inside”).
“”Our new Live laser system allows the “laserist” to interpret his or her own style and mood into the show by adding geometric patterns which were a staple of earlier laser shows,” said John Radzilowicz, director of the Henry Buhl Jr. Planetarium & Observatory. “No show will ever be the same again.”
Manufactured by Laser Fantasy International, the world’s leading provider of laser shows and systems, the Lumpishphere Laser Projector reintroduces live operator control to the performance capabilities, which can be tailored to audience reaction. The system will also allow laser images to fill the entire 50-foot dome inside the Buhl Planetarium.
On Friday, Nov. 10, the Planetarium will begin a new Friday/Saturday line-up of shows which will run through the end of 2000 – Pop Rox (9 p.m.), Greatful Dead (10 p.m.), Kiss (11 p.m.) and Pink Floyd The Wall 2000 (midnight). Admission to laser shows is $8. Plus the “laserist” have more than 40 additional titles to choose from and to the mix of shows throughout 2001, including everything from AC/DC to the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nine Inch Nails, the Smashing Pumpkins and U2. The Science Center also has plans to add a family laser show matinee in early spring.
Carnegie Science Center, located next to Three Rivers Stadium on the North Shore, is open Sunday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with extended hours for laser and OMNIMAX shows on Fridays and Saturdays.
