Little orphan ‘Annie’ to entertain audience at Frazier High School
PERRYOPOLIS – The Frazier Drama Club will present its spring musical, “Annie” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, March 27-29, in the Frazier High School Auditorium. Tickets will be available at the door. For information call 724-736-4426.
Everyone knows the story of orphan Annie, who is played by Israel Ragle, abandoned at the orphanage door with a note and a broken locket.
From the orphanage to Hooverville to Warbuck’s mansion, Annie’s goal is the same – to find her parents.
She will be helped in her quest by billionaire Oliver Warbucks, played by Tyler Phillips, and Grace Farrell, portrayed Lori Jellick, and all of her friends at the orphanage, despite the efforts of Miss Hannigan, who is played by Andrea Puskar.
Rooster Hannigan, who is portrayed by Stephen Sholtas, and his girlfriend Lily St. Regis, played by Jen Cutter, also try to cash in on the plan to find Annie’s parents.
Other orphans and friends are portrayed by Lynnette Rendina, Rachel Lynch, Jen Salko, Tricia Homsher, Ana Rendina, Erin Sizemore, Becca Harmon, Sara Toth, Jayde Townsend, Roberta Emery, Shannon Mattox, Stephanie Smith, Heather Priester, Cody Inman, Renee Chaw, Chelsea Gallo, Jenna Boyles, Michael Rendina, Alexandra Zayakosky, Adam Margovic, Bobby Rendina, Giovanni Rendina, Kamryn Schwab and Caitlyn Boothiller.
The radio also helps Annie find her real family.
Berty Healy, portrayed by Eugene Zias, and the lovely Boylan Sisters (Smith, Cutter, Zayakosky) sing their hearts out for her.
The regular radio announcer, who is portrayed by Adam Margovic, keeps everyone aware of what’s going on during the Depression.
President Roosevelt, who is played by Joe Van Dine and butler, Drake, portrayed by Jeff Adams are also invaluable assistants.
Annie’s songs, “Maybe” and “Tomorrow” are popular and very well known, but everyone’s feet will be tapping to “Easy Street”
and “You Won’t Be An Orphan For Long” and other great songs from this musical.
Student Directors are Lori Jellick and Lynnette Rendina, both seniors.
Stage crewing, sound, props and costuming are handled by Tom Dunay, Jesse Howser, Ken Kovach, Nick Kovach, Joe Karoffa, Jason Citro, Jeff Adams, and Sarah Kostelac.
“This extensive cast includes students from grades 6 through 12 – all of whom work remarkably well together, producing a wonderful performance,” said Joanne Cushman, the show’s director.
