AAFC to hold auditions for play

SCOTTDALE – The classic children’s story of a toy rabbit that comes to life will also come to life when Actors and Artists of Fayette County presents “The Velveteen Rabbit” by Margery Williams and adapted by Anita Larson. Auditions for the production will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Scottdale Showtime Theatre.

Needed for the cast are a boy or girl age 8 to 11 for the lead role of Andrew (Andrea) the owner of the velveteen Rabbit; six to nine young adults age 12 to 18 to play the Velveteen Rabbit, toy spirits and forest creatures; and four to eight children age 5 to 11 to portray the tree spirits and the rabbit chorus.

Also needed are two women and three men from their late 20s to late 60s.

No prior experience is necessary.

All roles are open and newcomers are encouraged to audition.

The show will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 18 and 2:30 p.m. Dec. 19.

Rehearsals will be held on Sunday afternoons Nov. 14-28 and then four to five evenings a week Dec. 5 until opening.

Laurie London will direct. People interested in helping backstage, running lights, helping build the set and stage managing are also needed and may submit their names to the director at the auditions or by calling 724-887-0887.
