‘Shoestring Theatre’ to keep audience hanging on at Frazier
PERRYOPOLIS – The Frazier Drama Club will present its fall production of “Shoestring Theatre” by Eddie McPherson at 7 p.m. Nov. 18-19 at the Frazier High School auditorium. Tickets are available at the door, and the public is invited. For information, call 724-736-4426.
The premise of this play is familiar to theater groups everywhere. Director Sanders is planning the spectacular production of the classic, “Cinderella.” But the budget has been cut, and while Director Sanders, played by Cody Inman, has faced similar problems before, an 80 percent cut is just too much. Do they want him to produce a failure.
Sanders is assisted in his revenge by many friends and volunteers who pitch in to help make just the kind of play he wants.
Executive Director Mrs. Brakes played by Rebecca Harmon and Bonnie, president of the theater company, portrayed by Stephanie Smith, do not know what is happening behind their backs.
Efforts by Brutus played by Josh Sawyers and his moving men portrayed by Jason Deabner, Brandon Diederich and Ricky Emery, Pepper, Denise, Eva and Molly played by Karen Babyak, Erin Sizemore, Chelsea Gallo and Marci Milty begin the necessary planning.
Hermione and Chrissy, the local bistro chef and waitress, played by Roberta Emery and Kamryn Schwab, supply machines while Mary, the bag lady, played by Sara Toth, and Audrey, the crazy lady, portrayed by Ana Rendina, do their part to make the play something special.
The doctor and her aides played by Jenna Boyles, Heather Priester and Kayla Ross have their work cut out for them, while the star Gwen portrayed by Shaoon Mattox feels left out. Capri, the theater critic, played by Jayde Townsend, will have something to write about.
Supporting cast includes Sarah Adams, Amantha Elwell, Giovaana Bitonti, Amanda Pato, Amanda Murdock, Jenna Gardner, Alayna Lincoln, Rachae; Zimmerman, Travis Firmstone and Jane Gelotti.
Stage and lighting crew includes Jeff Adams, John Reed, Evan Brnich, Jeremy Green, Justin Ritter and Russell Buberniak.
