Cal U to present four shows this fall
CALIFORNIA – The Department of Theatre and Dance at California University of Pennsylvania will present four shows this fall. The fall productions include “How I Learned to Drive,” “The Birds,” “Boy’s Life” and “The Nutcracker.”
“How I learned to Drive” involves a relationship between a girl named Li’l Bit and her Uncle Peck. The story is told through flashbacks, narration, monologues and voice-overs. This performance is not recommended for children.
Performances are scheduled from Oct. 20-23 at 8 p.m. in Steele Auditorium.
First year students travel to Cloud Cuckooland in the comedy “The Birds.” The play takes place in Ancient Greece where people are fed up with their world. Two heroes escape to the birds in an effort to find a better society. “The Birds” performance is scheduled from Nov. 3-5 at 8 p.m. and Nov. 6 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. in Steele Auditorium. The Department of Theatre and Dance will present “Boy’s Life,” Nov. 11-12 at 8 p.m. in Steele Auditorium. “Boy’s Life” is a comedy that explores the life of three men and their childish mannerisms.
The Mon Valley Ballet Theatre and California University’s Department of Theatre and Dance will present their annual production of “The Nutcracker.” It will be performed at Steele Auditorium Dec. 3-4 at 8 p.m. and Dec. 4-5 at 2 p.m. This holiday classic is an enchanting tale of a girl, Clara, and a magical gift she receives.
