local Flatwoods Productions announces its fall season at Curfew Grange in Flatwoods with performances on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Curtain time is 8 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. The first show will only have two performances (Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon). All others will perform Friday and Saturday evenings with a Sunday matinee. Tickets are available at the door or may be reserved by calling 724-785-6896. Curfew Grange is located at the intersection of Route 201 South and Buena Vista Road, Flatwoods (across from the cemetery). Opening the season on Saturday and Sunday will be “Arsenic and Old Lace” by Joseph Kesselring, one of the most famous comedy successes both in New York and on the road. The Actor’s Workshop, professional acting instruction by a professional actor, will be held at the State Theatre Center for the Arts in Uniontown. Jeff Monahan, the instructor for the Actor’s Workshop, is a professional actor who was trained under theater legend Robert Lewis. He has done extensive stage work, both regionally and in New York and has appeared in a number of films. The eight-week session will begin on Saturday. Three levels of classes are offered, including “Dramatics & the Basics of Acting” for children ages 10 to 13 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday; “Scene Study, Exercises, Monologues & the Foundations of Acting” for young adults ages 14 to 17 from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday; and “Professional Approach to Script Analysis, Character Development, Rehearsal & Performance” for adults 18 and older from 6 to 8 p.m. Mondays. “Legend of Pocahontas,” the second in the Fall Family Showcase series of entertainment at Scottdale Showtime Theatre, located at 111 Pittsburgh St., Scottdale, will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The production is under the direction of Richard Means and Laurie London. Tickets are available for all seats with festival seating. The box office will open at 6 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday. The Lucrarelli Brothers will play jazz from 8 to 11 p.m. today in the lounge at Shadyside Restaurant, 998 N. Gallatin Ave., Uniontown. There is no charge for entertainment. Dinner reservations can be made by calling 724-438-0931.The second annual Pasta Sauce Cook-off will take place at 64 Crayons Cultural Center, Thompson House, 815 Water St., Brownsville, from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday. The house provides pasta for an array of old or new family sauces. Price of admission is one jar of sauce per group of up to four people. It’s a chance to test the family recipe against stiff competition. No chili or rib entries need apply.

Noah’s Ark Humane Society will be host “Slobberfest 2004” at the Humane Society at 477 N. Gallatin Ave. in Uniontown from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Enter your pet in the following events: “The Great Puppy Race,” “Slobberfest Contest,” “Pet Halloween Costume Contest,” “My Dog is Better Than your Dog Race,” ” Biggest and Smallest Dog in Fayette” and “I Can Bake Animal Treats Better Than You.” Trophies will be awarded, and there will be food, raffles, crafts and pumpkins. A rabies clinic will take place from 3 to 4 p.m. There will be a fee for the rabies clinic and an entrance fee for each event. Dr. Tummons will be on hand to administer shots. Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra will present “Opening Night” on Saturday at the Palace Theatre in Greensburg. Concert time is 8 p.m. A pre-concert lecture, which is open to all ticket holders, will be held at 7 p.m. in the Palace Theatre.

Country music will be performed Saturday at the Sagebrush Round-Up on Bunner Ridge near Fairmont, W.Va. Featured acts include Ray Hileman & the Wheels of Country, Burt Arbogast & Old Habits, Florance Oakley and Randy Thomas & Friends. The house band Stagecoach will perform.

Country music starts at 6 p.m. with the open stage. The schedule portion of the show then starts at 7 p.m. and continues until 11 p.m.

There is a charge for adults, and children 12 and under are admitted free. The Sagebrush Round-Up is located six miles east of Interstate 79 at Exit 139 on Bunner Ridge near Fairmont, W.Va.

Music by The Dave Dahl Trio will be presented 8 to 11 p.m. today when round and square dancing, featuring both hoe-down and western style, will be held at Marilla Park in Morgantown, W.Va., and from 8 to 11 p.m. today at the Arthurdale Center Hall in Arthurdale, W.Va.

The IndianRocks Complex of Reedsville, W.Va., will celebrate its grand opening on Saturday.

The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for three performance by local bands, including headlining act Joe Hall & High Country, as well as Country Gospel Grounds.

The event is open to the public, and there is an admission charge. IndianRocks Complex is located on Route 7 East just outside of Kingwood, W.Va.

Area 51 Band will play classic rock music from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Rinky Dinks in Amity, Pa.The Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf will sponsor a monster yard sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Addison Apparitions presented by the Old Petersburg/Addison Historical Society is a front porch tour trough the village of Addison stopping by 14 locations to learn more about the history of the village from characters of the past. Visitors will see and hear costumed apparitions speak of the exciting episodes that took place during their days in the village.

See travelers paying their tolls on the National Pike, a bank robbery in progress, participants of the infamous Whiskey Rebellion and just ordinary folks going about their daily business.

The Ligonier Valley Chamber of Commerce will sponsor the third annual “Ralley in the Valley” road rally on Sunday, beginning at 1 p.m. at the Compass Inn Museum in Laughlintown and ending at Carol & Dave’s Roadhouse on Route 711 North, where complimentary appetizers will be served. Teams are invited to pay a fee per car to compete for cash prizes, which will be awarded to those who successfully assemble the most scavenger hunt items and answers and return them to the final destination.

Judges will determine the winners. Survival kits, containing tips and “goodies,” will be distributed to each team. Teams must register in advance.
