Young Christian takes stand in ‘Who, Me?’ show at Dry Knob School House Theatre

FAIRCHANCE – Dry Knob School House Theatre in Fairchance will present “Who, Me?” at 7 p.m. today as the educational theater for school age children kicks off its 16th season. Performers are Aleyxandria Finnell, Megan Sanders, Josetta Byers, Theodore J. Finnell, Christropher Byers and Michael Byers.

The basis of this musical is the young Christian must take a stand, ask questions, do what is needed and be ready to serve.

Megan Sanders, performing the role of the young Christian, is the daughter of Kelly Lyn (Biller) Sanders. Megan joined the theater in 1990 during the February production of “Just Everything.”

Marking the third performance for Aleyxandria Finnell, she will play the role of Still Small Voice. She performed in “Little Christmas Lamb” in December 2003 and “Good Kings Come In Small Packages” in February this year.

Theodore Finnell will play Bart. This marks his second performance after he joined the theater in February to accept a role in “Good Kings Come in Small Packages.”

Michael, Josetta and Christopher Byers are new performers and singers. They have been assigned the roles of teacher, father, mother and students. Imagination is necessary in role playing.

Performers completing eight productions receive a star in “The Sidewalk of Stars.

Amber Suzzette Long, the director of performances, was born in Los Angeles, Calif., received her bachelor’s degree from Frostburg State University in speech communication and theater arts. She enjoys training children in public speaking, role acting, singing and performing for the public. Training and costumers are provided at no expense to parents. The public is invited to this production. The children develop confidence, and learn determination and team cooperation. Stage directions are taught along with prop locations and respect for the props. Singing, memorizing lines and practice is important for a successful production.

Books and tapes are provided for the performance. These items are returned at the conclusion of the production.

More than 300 students have trained and performed with the theater. The theater recently concluded its 15th year. Renovations of the 1908 school building were completed in the summer of 1989, and the first play titled “Something’s Up Down in Bethlehem” was performed in December that year.
