Covered Bridge Festival set for Sept. 18-19
The 34th annual Covered Bridge Festival will bring the past alive Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 18-19, in Washington and Greene counties. The two-day festival, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., will feature activities.
The following events are scheduled at these covered bridges in Greene County:
Carmichaels Bridge
– 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Irishtown Bluegrass. The Greene Academy Dulcimer Players will provide additional music.
– 9:30 a.m. Sunday, worship service.
– 1 to 4 p.m., Acoustic Shows of the Blue & Grey.
– 2 p.m., Helen & Dave.
Other activities include horse-drawn wagon ridges and a petting zoo. Morning Sun Catering Shop will sell food. Call 724-966-9770.
White Bridge, Garards Fort
– Gospel music will be provided on stage both days.
– Various local crafters will be featured.
– Blacksmith, antique tools and apple butter making will be demonstrated.
– Old-fashioned games.
– Civil War re-enactors camp with living history by the 140th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry and West Virginia Light Artillery and 30th Virginia Company H will be held.
– Horse-drawn wagon rides will be available.
– Worship service at 10 .m. Sunday.
– Pictorial cancellation stamps will be available.

Various activities will also be offered at the Henry Bridge and Evenezer Bridge, both located at Mingo Creek Park, Hughes Bridge in Amwell Township, Wyit Sprowls in East Finley Township, McClurg Bridge in Hanover Township Park and Pine Bank Birdge at the Meadowcraft Museum of Rural Life.
