Symphony on Wheels to take road trip to PSO
Communities In Schools of Southwest Pennsylvania Inc. will once again sponsor its Symphony On Wheels Concert Series. The first concert in the series is “Barbra Streisand Songbook” on Saturday, Oct. 16, at 8 p.m. Marvin Hamlisch, and the PSO will perform the music of one of the greatest vocalists of all time, Barbra Streisand. Hamlisch has invited show-stopping singer Julie Budd to sing Streisand’s favorites. The deadline for purchasing tickets to this performance is Oct. 1.
On Saturday, Nov. 20, at 8 p.m., is the “Classical Mystery Tour-A Beatles Tribute.” The Fab Four are reincarnated on the Heinz Hall Stage as the original members of the Broadway sensation “Beatlemania” perform with the PSO.
It’s the world’s most acclaimed tribute to the Beatles with more than 20 Beatles tunes performed, including “Yesterday,” “Hey Jude,” “All You Need is Love,” “Eleanor Rigby” and more. The deadline for purchasing tickets to this performance is Nov. 5.
“Pop Goes British” will be featured at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 30. Jack Everly will bring London’s West End to Heinz Hall with this tribute to British composers. The performance will feature songs from blockbuster shows. The deadline for purchasing tickets is April 15.
There is no better way to end this season, which heralds 10 years of total entertainment with Marvin Hamlisch, than with a tribute to Hamlisch himself on his birthday, Saturday, June 4. Visitors will enjoy an evening of Hamlisch’s greatest hits, and the music, which inspired him. The deadline for purchasing tickets is May 20.
All performances are held at Heinz Hall. Tickets for the entire series, as well as individual concerts are available, including motorcoach transportation to and from Heinz Hall. The motorcoach departs from the Uniontown Mall National City Bank drive-through at 4:30 p.m., arriving at approximately 6 p.m. in Pittsburgh.
