LAUGHLINTOWN – The Ligonier Valley Historical Society announces its final Living History Weekend of the summer season on Saturday and Sunday at Compass Inn Museum in Laughlintown. The special guest will be Robert Adamovich, historian, artist and lecturer. Adamovich is creator and host of “Historically Speaking,” a regional cable broadcast history show on HSTV Calkins Media. He will be offering for sale limited-edition prints of “A Map of the Virginia Regiments’ Journey of Redstone to Meadows.” The prints are $25 each with artist proofs also available at $40 each. Living History Weekend at Compass Inn gives guests an opportunity to tour a restored 1799 stagecoach stop, which includes a working blacksmith shop, a cookhouse and a barn housing two historically important vehicles – the Conestoga wagon and the stagecoach.

Compass Inn is located in Laughlintown, three miles east of Ligonier on Route 30.

Skilled craftsmen will be on site demonstrating a variety of 19th century craft and offering their handcrafted items for purchase. Crafts demonstrated will be open-hearth cooking, spinning and weaving, bobbin lace-making and wooden bobbin turning, barrel making, woodworking, pewter casting, gunsmithing and mapmaking. Bagpipers will perform on site both days as well.

To take full advantage of the tour and demonstrations, it is suggested that at least two hours be allotted for the visit to this historical site. Additionally, the museum store summer clearance sale will be in progress, and the public is encouraged to browse the great gift items on sale.
