Flatwoods Productions will hold auditions for its upcoming production of “The King and I” at 2 p.m. Saturday. Needed are approximately 20 children ages 6 through 14, boys and girls 14 through 20, a male age 16 to 30 who is well built, athletic and can move well and men and women ages 20 through 65. Especially needed is a soprano for the roles of Tuptim and Lady Thiang. Girlz in Black Hats will entertain the public from 6 to 8 p.m. Brownsville Rotary will sponsor stories and crafts for kids 10 and under starting at 5:30 p.m. A free book will be given to each child.Cerini Harley-Davidson will present Midnite Run at 11 a.m. Saturday, benefiting Big Brothers and Big Sisters. The event will feature a vintage bike display, car cruise and a blood drive from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Beverages, food, auction, live D.J. live band, one-half takes and tip boards will be featured. Dog Run Boys Bluegrass Event will be hosted at Frank Lloyd Wright’s House on Kentuck Knob on Saturday. Guests are asked to bring their blankets or lawn chairs. The event begins at 6 p.m. with a guided house, leading its way to the back terrace and breathtaking view. There is a cost. Call 724-329-1901 for reservations.

Lightning Valley Village Lenape will hold its fourth annual Native American Festival from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. today through Sunday at Brownsville-Luzerne (Patsy Hillman) Park. Festivities will include native dancing, native drumming, crafters, storytelling, Native American artifacts, crystals, food, tattooing, native flute music, native herbs and more. Participants include Dave Waner, head male dancer; Danielle Waner, head female dancer; Redman Simms, head veteran; Bald Eagle, arena director; and Chief Gentle Warrior, M.C. There is a daily admission charge for adults. Children 12 and under are admitted free of charge. Non-perishable food donations are welcome. The event benefits the local food bank. “Cruisin in the Park III,” a car, truck and bike show, sponsored by Tewell Motor Sales and Davies Ford, will be held Sunday at Shady Grove Park, with registration from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The show is open to the public, with portions of the proceeds going to Children’s Hospital. Some 90 trophies will be awarded, and the first 200 will receive a 9-inch standup plaque and hat. Other features will be 5-foot best of show; 5-foot largest car club; and 3-foot people’s choice trophies. Pickle Radio will broadcast live from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The second annual Smock Classic Car Show will be held on Sunday at the Smock Community Center, located one mile off Route 51. Registration will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. The show will take place from 3 to 7 p.m.

There is a registration fee for each vehicle. Dash plaques will be awarded to the first 150 vehicles registered.

Each registrant will receive a coupon for a free hot dog, chips and soda. A free goody bag will be given to each registrant.

This will be a judged show, with more than 30 trophies. Music will be provided by D.J. HAM.

Delmont Concert Band returns to Ligonier for the Sunday Evening Band Concert at 7 p.m. Sunday on the Diamond. The Rev. Paul Poerschko from St. James Lutheran Church will give the invocation, and the Laurel Highland Region of the AACA will have its antique cars on display on East Main Street during the concert. The event is sponsored by the Ligonier Valley Chamber of Commerce, with a grant from the Westmoreland County Arts Council. Concerts are free to the public, with donations accepted and greatly appreciated.

In case of rain, the concert will be held in the Town Hall auditorium.Arthurdale Heritage, Inc. Old Time Dance will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. today. Old-time square dance will be provided. Dave Dahl will provide music. There is a cost. For information, call the AHI office at 724-864-3959.

Italian Day Festa presented by Westmoreland Columbus 500 will be held today at Idlewild Park and Soak Zone in Ligonier. The event will be held rain or shine. The gates will open at 10 a.m. There is a cost for tickets. Featured entertainment will be Marco, The Cavaliers, We Three and Sputzy. Fireworks will take place at 10 p.m.

Mount Pleasant Glass and Ethnic Festival Committee will present its annual fund-raiser, “Mt. Pleasant Cruise Night,” today at Frick Park in Mount Pleasant.

Gates will open to drivers at 6 p.m., with admission by donation. Dash plaques will be distributed to the first 200 drivers. The gates open to the public at 7 p.m.

There is a donation for adults, and children under 12 are admitted free. The rain date will be Friday, Aug. 26.

The Ligonier Valley Historical Society announces its final Living History Weekend of the summer Saturday and Sunday at the Compass Inn Museum in Laughlintown.

Special guest will be Robert Adamovich, historian, artist and lecturer. Adamovich is creator and host of “Historically Speaking,” a regional cable broadcast history show on HSTV, Calkins Media. Living History Weekend at Compass Inn gives guests an opportunity to tour a restored 1799 stagecoach stop, which includes a working blacksmith shop, a cookhouse and a barn housing two historically important vehicles – the Conestoga wagon and the stagecoach. Skilled craftsmen will be on site demonstrating a variety of 19th century craft and offering their handcrafted items for purchase. Crafts demonstrated will be open-hearth cooking, spinning, weaving, bobbin-lace making and wooden bobbin turning, barrel making, woodworking, pewter casting, gunsmithing and mapmaking. Bagpipers will perform on both days.

Sunday Sports Spectacular hosted by The Children’s Institute and Harmarville Outreach Programs and Education Network will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at The Children’s Institute, located at 1405 Shady Ave., Pittsburgh. The event will feature adaptive cycling, dodge ball and basketball.
