Library

The Frazier Community Library will be closed for Labor Day from Sept. 3 to 5 and reopen on Sept. 6, when extended hours will begin. Extended hours are 3:05 to 9 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Saturday hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Local building contractor Bill Casey of Perryopolis has been appointed project manager for Pensacola Naval Air Station and Northwestern Florida. Bill, who is employed by Pacific Tech Corp., is a defense contractor from Long View Washington, and will oversee all new construction of historic Naval buildings damaged in the recent hurricanes.

These multimillion-dollar projects are expected to last 4 or 5 years.

Pioneer Day Run

The Perryopolis Area Heritage Society and the Frazier Cross Country Team are sponsoring the Third Annual Pioneer – Community Day Two Mile Run. The event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 1 at Sampey Park. The race will begin at 8:30 a.m., with registration beginning at 7:30 a.m. Walkers and runners are invited to participate. Applications will be available in the near future at various locations, or contact Dan Coldren at 724-326-8610 or Joe Turek at 724-628-0999.

Golf outing

The Perryopolis Football Boosters recently sponsored a golf outing at Linden Hall. The outing raised money to help send the team to California University of Pennsylvania for a week of camp.

The boosters would like to thank Linden Hall, the businesses and individuals who sponsored a tee or sponsored the program or donated prizes, the parents who helped at the outing, all the golfers that made this fund-raiser such a success and anyone that helped in anyway. A special thank you to Coach Sweitzer, Don Miller and Tim Holt who organized the outing, without whose hard work and enthusiasm for golf, this event would not have been possible.

Reopening

May Day Personal Care Home at 162 Cemetery Road, Perryopolis, is reopening in the near future. Applications for residency or employment may be obtained by calling in the morning (if possible between 10 and noon). To visit the care home for a tour, call for an appointment. Learning Tree
