Sisters land roles in ‘Annie, Jr.’ at Jeff-Morgan Middle School
JEFFERSON – Jefferson-Morgan Middle School students will present the musical, “Annie, Jr.” at 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 16-17, in the school’s auditorium, located at 1351 Jefferson Road, Jefferson. Directed by Bethany Hughes, “Annie, Jr.” is the slightly shortened version of the hit Broadway musical telling the fairy-tale story of an orphaned girl rescued from despair by a wealthy bachelor.
The 40-cast member production stars Ariel Berry in the title role of “Annie” and Annie Berry as the mean “Miss Hannigan.”
The two sisters play dueling roles in the middle school production.
Ariel, the younger of the two sisters, will play the orphan with “an attitude” and older sister, Annie, who plays the mean, head mistress of the orphanage.
“It’s quite easy to push my sister around during the play because I do it in real life all the time,” said Annie a.k.a. “Miss Hannigan.”
Younger sister Ariel Berry claims that “It’s kind easy getting beaten on stage by my sister because I am so used to it. It’s a lot of real life events for us that we get to act out in the play.”
Other main characters include Phillip Martin, who portrays “Daddy Warbucks;” Kelly Hetrick, who portrays Warbucks’ secretary, “Grace Farrell;” Scott Rolf who is the criminal “Rooster;” and Kylee Bowden who plays “Lily.” Other star orphans are Sarah Haywood, Paige Goozdich, Jennifer Neff, Molly Cochran, Danica Titus and Alecia Ketchem.
