LH students aim sights high with ‘Annie Get Your Gun’
Laurel Highlands High School will present Irvin Berlin’s “Annie Get Your Gun” at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, March 4-5, and 2 p.m. Sunday, March 6, in the high school theatre. Sandy Costello will direct the show, and Martin Turosak is assistant director. Choreographer is Michele Zamperini. Jim Miller will direct the orchestra, and Brad Henry is the accompanist.
“Annie Get Your Gun” is the story of a naive girl turned celebrity after her amazing the local hotel owner notices sharp-shooting skills.
Annie soon joins Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show and falls in love with the pompous star of the show, Frank Butler. Ego gets in the way of their love, and they go their separate ways.
The show will feature popular songs such as “There’s No Business Like Show Business” and “I Can Do Anything Better Than You.”
The cast of characters is as follows: Brian Shaffer as Frank Butler; Tina Bandzuch and Samantha Meese as Annie Oakley; Bruce Burish and Carl Opel as Buffalo Bill; Donna Defino and Kim Peters as Dolly Tate; Alyssa Iannamorelli and Emily Mildern as Winnie Tate; Ryan Clark as Sitting Bull; Nick Clark and Justin Wirick as Tommy Keller; Ryan Madison as Foster Wilson; Cameron Chisler as Pawnee Bill; Joey Saylor and Sam Silva as Charlie Davenport; Bruce Burish and Carl Opel as Eagle Feather; Jonathan Silva as Running Deer; and Blaine Salutric as Mac, The Prop Man.
The children include Colton Henry, Melody Jones, Sophia Jones and Sydney Soberdash.
Dancers and chorus members are Brittany Bolen, Katie Burke, Anna Collins, Justin DiNunno, Laura Fischer, Kate George, Kayla Kadar, Amanda Newell, Mary Kovach, Kaitlin Schuessler, Beth Ann Sherrin and Katie Sherrin.
Chorus and debutantes include Jeramie Byers, Kaitlin Clancey, Andrea Dowdell, Taylor Everly, Sarah Hixon, Shaina Jamieson, Jessica Martin, Angela Maruca, Emily Merti, Karen Medina and Audra Tewell.
Queen/Kings are Sarah Hixson, Shaina Jamieson, Karen Medina and Blaine Salutric.
Katie Burke, Anna Collins, Justine DiNunno and Beth Ann Sherrin will play the socialites.
The lullaby singers include Anna Collins, Amanda Newell and Kaitlin Schuessler.
Kim Davison, Jeff Dempsey and David Fecek are student directors. Alyssa Iannomorelli and Brittany Wilcosky are dance captains.
The pit band includes Josh Barnhart, Phil Brown, Jen Clements, Corey Harper, Frank Hebda, Danielle Kerfoot, Nick Mattie, Josh Painter, Emily Powell, Erin Prah, Megan Prah, Jessica Show, Jerrica Yarbrough, Brad Henry, Richard McCoy, Angie Miller and Jim Miller.
The set crew features Barry Adamson, Theresa Boyd, Merchant Brownfield, Cameron Chisler, Richard Daniocek, John Livingood, Stacie Newell, Erin Prah, Abby Rockwell and Jessica Wallace.
Make up is under the direction of K.C. Lohr, Stephanie Martin, Andrea McWilliams, Betsy Medina, Claudeth Medina, Kim Seese, Shana Show and Rachel Vernon.
The light and sound crew includes Merchant Brownfield, Chris Miller, Matt Nesser and Stacey Newell.
Tickets may be purchased at Laurel Highlands High School between the hours of 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Advanced ticket purchases may be made by mail. All ticket orders purchased by mail must be received by Feb. 25. Tickets may also be purchased at the door. A special group rate is available for groups of 10 or more for the Sunday, March 6, performance at 2 p.m. These tickets must be purchased by mail by Feb. 25.
The Laurel Highlands Academic Foundation will sponsor a “Sweet Theatre” (desserts) before the performance on Saturday, March 5, from 5 to 6:45 p.m. in the Laurel Highlands High School cafeteria. The cost includes a ticket to the 7 p.m. performance. Tickets to the “Sweet Theatre” may be purchased by contacting Sarah Biancardi at 724-437-2821, extension 1010 or from any trustee.
