local Eve Ensler’s “The Vagina Monologues,” held by The Peace Project and the Student Sexual Assault Response Team (SSART), will be performed in the Natali Student Center’s Performance Center at 8 p.m. today and Saturday. The goal of the production is to raise awareness to stop violence against women and girls and to raise funds for local victim centers with proceeds being donated to Fayette County’s Crime Victims’ Center and the Washington County Women’s Shelter. The day will be filled with opportunities to work on knitting projects, view knitting exhibits, learn how to knit and enjoy good company. There will be door prizes and raffles, a children’s play area and an ongoing coffee bar. A sandwich lunch will be provided. There is a suggested donation with al proceeds going to tsunami relief. Commercial Center Associates (CCA), a Uniontown real estate and community development company, will host Chili & Chocolates in downtown Uniontown from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Co-sponsors of the event are the Downtown Business District Authority and the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce. Chili & Chocolates will be the first of four local chili competitions. All chili cooks who compete can move on to competitions in Brownsville, Connellsville and the finals at the Christian W. Klay Winery in September. West Virginia Public Theater announces audition dates for its upcoming 2005 season on Saturday at the James Center in Pittsburgh from 2 to 8 p.m.

Tickets are available by appointment only by calling 304-291-4177 or 304-598-0144. Applicants need to be prepared to sing 16 bars of an upbeat tempo or ballad and bring a headshot and resume.

Buck Naked Band will perform at 10 p.m. today at Billy’s on Milford Street in Clarksburg, W.Va., and at 10 p.m. Saturday at Country Hideaway on Kanetown Road in Fellowsville, W.Va.

Country music will be presented Saturday at the Sagebrush Round-Up on Bunner Ridge near Fairmont, W.Va. Country acts include Eileen Smith, Ray Hileman & Wheels of Country, Brad Crow & The Cutups and Dick Ruthan & Don’t Do It Biscuits. Country music starts at 6 p.m. with the open stage. Stagecoach will back single acts and new talent. The scheduled show then starts at 7 p.m. and lasts until about 11 p.m.

There is a cost for country music. Children under 12 are admitted free. The Sagebrush Round-Up is located six miles east of Interstate 79 at Exit 139 on Bunner Ridge near Fairmont, W.Va. The show will feature more than 500 of the latest vehicles from more than 35 manufacturers, including several pre-production vehicles, specialty vehicles and concept cars. Come to compare all the different makes and models under one roof, climb in the vehicles and check trunk space or simply dream about your next ride.

Carnegie Museum of Natural History will host a day of special events on Saturday that will invite visitors to explore the wildlife and culture of the Arctic in the comfort of the museum.

All programs are free with museum admission. The highlight of the day’s events is a lecture by professional photographer Jim Burke, who will provide a fasinating look at the Inuit of Sanikiluag. From throat singing to seal skin preparation, Burke chronicled the traditional culture of this group of Native Americans during his 2004 trip to the Arctic. Other activities, all free with museum admission, include guided tours through the museum’s Polar World exhibit, story time, a children’s activity making an Inuit children’s toy to take home and a discover cart to examine and touch artifacts and specimens from the Arctic.

Carnegie Museum of Natural History can be enjoyed Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. and President’s Day.

There is an admission charge for adults, senior citizens, children ages 3 to 18 and full-time students with ID. Children under 3 and Carnegie members are admitted free.

A “Valentine’s Day Dance” will be held at 9:30 p.m. Saturday at the Bobtown Rod & Gun Club. Music will be provided by Hit and Run. There is a cover charge.
