Farmers’ market plans events

The 2005 Farmers’ Market Season hosted by the Fayette Progress Council will be held every Saturday through Oct. 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in parking lot at 8 E. Main St. Items available every week include locally grown fruits, vegetables, plants, fresh flowers along with baked goods, handmade crafts, candles and furniture.

The Fayette Progress Council has developed a list of special events that will coincide with select weekly markets.

The events are as follows:

– Saturday, a complimentary ice cream social.

– July 16, 84 Lumber Classic Day along with Cycles in the City.

– July 23, Health & Fitness Fair featuring retired Pittsburgh Steeler Steve Courson.

– July 30, Chef cooking demonstrations featuring Farmers’ Market produce.

– Aug. 13, Arts & Crafts Fair.

– Aug. 27, Back to school featuring healthy suggestions for the school year.

– Sept. 10, Uniontown’s 84 Lumber Classic kick-off.

– Sept. 24, The Dog Days of Summer Pet Parade.

– Oct. 1, October FolkFest.

Additional information about each event will be released throughout the summer. The Fayette Progress Council is still accepting vendor applications for the 2005 season. For more information, call 724-437-1750.
