The CalRep Pennsylvania Summer Theatre School will return this year. Applications are available for enrollment in the summer theater school, hosted by California University of Pennsylvania’s Department of Theatre and Dance. A limited number of spaces are still available. Enrollment is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Beginning July 18 and ending July 29, accepted students will attend classes and rehearse the musical to be performed July 29. Students ages 8 to 17 may apply. Registration includes all scripts, music, costumes and lunch for each day of the school. Call 724-938-4220 for more information and to receive an application.

Children’s Theatre Festival, directed by Stefanie Nesser and held at the Uniontown Jewish Community Center, will take place July 19-21 and July 26-28. The festival will be packed with different theater activities every day and end with a final evening performance for family and friends on July 28. There is a cost. A star-studded “Karaoke/Variety Showcase” will be held Saturday at Geyer Performing Arts Center, 111 N. Pittsburgh St., Scottdale.

Phantom Cruisers second annual car show, sponsored by Henschel & Sons automotive, will be held at the Fayette County Fairgrounds from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, with registration from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Vendor spaces are available, with setup at 8 a.m. There will be a registration fee for each vehicle. Dash plaques and goodie bags will be awarded to the first 100 vehicles. The event features music by D.J. Charlie Apple, door prizes, 50/50, Chinese auction and food. The event will also feature a burnout contest, with a plaque awarded to the top 30 vehicles, 4-foot trophies awarded for best of show and largest car club. Winners will be chosen by participant vote. Uniontown’s Cycles in the City will be held Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m. and concluding at 9 p.m. A Poker Run will be held, starting at Cerini’s National Road Harley-Davidson at 9 a.m. There is a fee to participate. In addition, a swap meet will begin at 9 a.m. in the Pittsburgh Street parking lot next to CVS Pharmacy. There is a vendor fee. At 10 a.m., Main Street will close for a judged competition of cycles between Beeson Avenue and Morgantown Street. There is a fee to enter, and cash prizes will be awarded. Music will be played throughout the afternoon. At 4 p.m., the event will move to Romeo Lane off Route 51/Pittsburgh Street and will feature stunt drivers, burnout and T-shirt competition as well as games for children. Food and beverage vendors will be on site, and the group Nomad is slated to perform from 5 to 9 p.m. at Romeo Lane. For information, call Ron Romeo at 724-438-5561. Grace United Methodist Church will hold its third annual Outdoor Fun Festival on Saturday, from 4 to 10 p.m. and Sunday, from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. The public is invited. There will also be an outdoor worship service at 9:30 a.m., Sunday. The church is located on California Drive between California and Bentleyville. “The Uptown Theatre’ will be offering some hot entertainment in Washington’s coolest, premier venue. On July 21 – 23 “The Wicked Wenches’ come to The Uptown. Known for their ability to keep audiences laughing (and blushing) with their music review, this trio of female talent will be followed by the Strange Brew Band for a complete evening of entertainment. “Mystery Loves Company’ will return to The Uptown on Aug. 18 – 20 with a staging of “Bordello of the Damned,” a comedy/mystery set in a forgotten gold town appropriately named Deadwood with a collection of colorful characters that include a town controller, an insane rich gold digger, a madam, a lonely wife and a poker game gone bad. A dinner themed to the old West with all the fixings will complete the evening. Tickets for the “Mystery Loves Company’ shows are $35, all inclusive for dinner and the show. The 9th Annual Car and Truck Show ’50s Fest at the Ice Plant Restaurant in Greensboro will be held on Saturday. Each year, the profits from the show have been donated to a Greene County non-profit children’s organization. This year, funds will be donated to Greene County Special Olympics. Troopers from the Waynesburg State Police Barracks will open the car show with a Torch Run to honor the Special Olympics Team. The run will begin at Mapletown High School at 10:45 a.m. and finish at the Ice Plant pavilion.

Awards for this year will be the top 30 for the years 1984 and older, top five for 1985-1995, top five for 1996-2005, best of show car, best of show truck, participants’ choice, spectator’s choice and chef’s choice. Dash plaques and goodie bags will be given to the first 100 entrants. There will also be a dance contest, kids activities, 50/50 drawing and a model car contest.
