Gary V. with Susan Lee to perform variety duo at Storey Square

Gary V. with Susan Lee, a variety duo, will perform from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today during the Storey Square Summer Lunch Series. The event sponsored by the Downtown Business District Authority and the State Theatre Center for the Arts will be held on the lawn at Central School, located along Church Street in Uniontown across from the Herald-Standard office. Taste Buds will provide lunch at a small cost.

Gary V. Smith has gained a reputation as an entertainer and vocalist since 1970, according to a press release. He has the ability to up-lift audiences with his performing, which makes him an asset to any venue. On the instrumental front, he contributes his musical talents, playing sax, guitar and keyboards. He also sings vocals. He has played in popular groups such as Roundhouse, Trixx, Shades of Time, Brigade, Jet City and many more.

He also has performed as a one-man band for the past five years and appears at the Summit Inn, Lakeview and Dimitries in Morgantown, as well as various other clubs and restaurants in the area.

Smith uses his technical expertise to personally sequence and edit his background music. Over the years, he has built up a quality portfolio of songs to offer diversity and high-energy entertainment. Susan Lee’s early music background was influenced by various music genres. This included standards, big band, jazz, country and oldies. On occasion, she would perform with her father’s orchestra that would mark the beginning of her professional music journey. Some of them were Highlife, Frontrunner, Ectasy, Bourbon Street, Mirage, Bobby Reed, Back-Seat-Diver, Heartbeat and Nobody’s Perfect. In 1994, she went to Nashville, Tenn., where she recorded a single on her “New Faces” CD.
