The CalRep Pennsylvania Summer Theatre School will return this year. Applications are available for enrollment in the summer theater school hosted by California University of Pennsylvania’s Department of Theatre and Dance. A limited number of spaces are still available. Enrollment is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Beginning July 18 and ending July 29, accepted students will attend classes and rehearse the musical to be performed on July 29. Students between the ages of 8 and 17 may apply. The Point Marion Lions Club will hold a benefit fund-raiser every second Saturday of the month through June 2005. George Lucas, Nashville recording artist, singer, songwriter, performer and his band “Allegheny,” will perform on Saturday, June 25, at the Ohiopyle-Stewart Community Center in Ohiopyle. The music, which will include a mix of original songs plus songs by all of today’s top country artists, is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Ohiopyle-Stewart Volunteer Fire Department. Touchstone Center for Crafts will host a Summer Children’s Art Camp for ages 6 to 12 starting the weeks of June 27, July 11, 18, Aug. 1, 8 and 15 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. daily Monday through Friday. Preschool for ages 3 to 5 years will be offered June 29 through July 1 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. Phantom Cruisers second annual car show, sponsored by Henschel & Sons automotive, will be held at the Fayette County Fairgrounds from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 17, with registration from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Vendor spaces are available with set up at 8 a.m. There will be a registration fee for each vehicle. The Fayette Chamber of Commerce announces the entertainment lineup for its annual Independence Day Celebration & Cookoff, which will be held at the Uniontown Mall on Sunday, June 26. In addition, a swap meet will begin at 9 a.m. in the Pittsburgh Street parking lot next to CVS Pharmacy. There is a vendor fee. At 10 a.m., Main Street will close for a judged competition of cycles between Main Street on Beeson Avenue and continuing to Morgantown Street. There is a fee to enter, and cash prizes will be awarded. There will be music throughout the afternoon.
At 4 p.m., the event will move to Romeo Lane off Route 51/Pittsburgh Street and will feature stunt drivers, burnout and T-shirt competition as well as games for children. The Greater Morgantown Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) and MountainFest LLC have announced the Wild and Wonderful MountainFest Motorcycle Rally, scheduled for July 29-31 in Morgantown, W.Va.
