The Connellsville Lions Club will present its second concert of the 2005 season at 7 p.m. Sunday at Lions Square Park’s PNC Gazebo in Connellsville. Featured will be the “Del Sols.” The concert is free to the public, and refreshments will be available. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the evening.
George Lucas, Nashville recording artist, singer, songwriter, performer and his band “Allegheny,” will perform on Saturday at the Ohiopyle-Stewart Community Center in Ohiopyle. The music, which will include a mix of original songs plus songs by all of today’s top country artists, is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Ohiopyle-Stewart Volunteer Fire Department. There is a cost for tickets, which include food and drink.
Karaoke Showcase, featuring Doo Wop, Country and more, will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Music ‘N More, 14 South Broadway, Scottdale. The Sammy Bill Orchestra will perform from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today on the lawn at Central School, located on Church Street in Uniontown during the Storey Square Summer Lunch Series. Meloni’s Restaurant will provide lunch. AAA East Central is sponsoring the event.A classic car/truck show will take place on the grounds of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 180 Old Walnut Hill Road, Uniontown, on Saturday with registration between 1 and 3:30 p.m. There is a registration fee for each vehicle. Dash plaques will be awarded to the first 200 vehicles registered. More than 40 trophies will be awarded starting at 5:30 p.m. Independent judges will determine the top three winners in each category. Free admission is provided to the public. The Fayette Chamber of Commerce announces the entertainment lineup for its annual Independence Day Celebration & Cookoff, which will be held at the Uniontown Mall on Sunday. At noon the big band sound of The Graham Grubb Orchestra will perform, followed by a country music spectacular, featuring The Davisson Brothers, Joe Patrick, Jayce Everett, Alli Gillis and Sony National Recording artist, Miranda Lambert. In addition to music and wings and ribs, the event will feature a moonwalk, a kiddie play land, trackless train and other games and fun for children. The Pittsburgh Pirate Parrot and Eat ‘n Park’s “Cookie Man” will also be making visits. There will be a fireworks display from Zambelli International. Uniontown Giant Eagle will host the second annual car and truck show from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday with registration from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. All makes of cares and trucks are eligible. The event will feature antiques, classic, street rod, modified, under construction and 12 classes from 1900 to present. All classes will be judged. Judging will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Trophy-style dash plaques and T-shirts will be awarded to the first 150 cars. More than 75 trophies will be presented at 4:30 P.M. There is a registration fee. The event will feature a Chinese auction, a 50/50 drawing, door prizes and D.J. Stan the Man. All proceeds go to Pennsylvania Hospice Network. Various vendor booths will be on the lot.
Laurel Valley Corvette Club will present the first of two All Corvette Cruises on Saturday at Speedy Meedy’s Service Center on Route 119 across from the Fayette County Fairgrounds. Registration will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Registration is free, but donations will be accepted. Door prizes, a 50/50 drawing and food and beverages will be available. Corvettes registered for both Vette Together Cruises are eligible to win the Cruiser of the Year trophy.
