Dry Knob School House Theatre to present ‘Surrender’ tonight

2 min read

FAIRCHANCE – Dry Knob School House Theatre of Fairchance will present a musical “Surrender” today at 7 p.m. The production will showcase the talents of eight new performers with the school’s eight veteran performers, those who have two and more performances to their credit at the school.

The setting of “Surrender” is a high school choir rehearsing for a concert. The meaning of the word “Surrender” is intimidating to some of the students until God’s loving servant touches the hearts of two students, asking them to be of service to the Lord.

In the play, Eric (Tyler Redshaw) is a “Joe Cool football player” type who is concerned about what God will want him to do if he surrenders. He would rather be sent to Africa than to be a Christian witness at his high school. The younger boys (Brett Redshaw, James, John and Daniel Ruth) become natives for a funny enactment of Eric’s thoughts.

Jan (Andrea Lough) is very attached to her material possessions. She does not want to give up her love letters, stereo and numerous other items to witness for the Lord. She summons the aid of her friends, Pam (Abigail Ruth) and Heather (Leah Cook) in making a decision while singing the “Pious” song, a hilarious performance.

The eight veteran performers and their roles are Kaitlyn Shore (choir director Mrs. Foster), Chris Byers (God’s servant), and Samantha Detrick, Josie Byers, T.J. Finnell, Alyxandria Finnell and Megan Sanders (choir members). Michael Byers will be the spotlight operator for this performance.
