The Greater Uniontown Chorale will hold rehearsals on Monday in the Swimmer Auditorium at Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus. Rehearsals will begin at 7 p.m. Board chairman Richard McCoy and assistant director Roddy Hibbs will introduce the new director, Warren Shirer, a Connellsville resident. Shirer is affiliated with Point Park College, Stage Right Productions and the Scottdale Band. The Clarks, a well-known Pittsburgh rock band, will perform Saturday, Nov. 12, at the State Theatre Center for the Arts in Uniontown. The band features Connellsville native Scott Blasey, the lead singer. The concert will benefit the Conn-Area Catholic School, 110 N. Prospect St., Connellsville. Bazaar and Bake Sale sponsored by the Women’s Association of Springhill Furnace Presbyterian Church, located one mile north of the West Virginia line on Route 857 will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday and Saturday, Oct. 8. There will be handmade quilts and crafts and holiday items. There will be a varied lunch menu with takeouts available. All proceeds go to different Worldwide Missions.

The annual Buckwheat Supper will take place from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 14-15, at the Ohiopyle-Stewart Volunteer Fire Department. The meal will include buckwheat cakes, pancakes, sausage, potatoes and applesauce.

“Fayette County: A Video History,” an educational video of more than 90 minutes about the history of Fayette County, is available at the Fayette Chamber of Commerce, Coal & Coke Heritage Center at the Penn State Library or from the Fayette County Historical Society by calling 724-439-4422. Produced under the guidance of the Fayette County Historical Society, the video is filled with hundreds of photographs, interviews with historians and residents from the county, plus profiles of many towns and communities. The book, “Abel Gray: A Romance of the National Road,” written by A.F. Hill in 1876, was reproduced by the historical society in 1998 as a fictional novel with accurate depictions of the National Road.
