Fayette Friends of Animals, a no-kill shelter, will hold an open hour from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, at the shelter grounds off Route 40 on Searights Road, Uniontown. Visitors can see the animals and take a tour of the new, more modern facility. The event will feature free refreshments, a bake sale, Chinese auction, games and more. “Angels for Alexandra” benefiting Alexandra Schaney’s cancer treatment fund, will begin at noon Sunday at the Herald-Standard Pavilion, located at the Woodland Zoo on Route 40, Farmington. There will be a car show, bike show, food and vendors. Featured bands include Tom Armstrong & ReLucKtanT Rednecks, Crazy Cowboy, Ruff Creek, Jaggerbush and Happy Ending. “King Fish” will serve as the master of ceremonies. Uniontown’s 2005 Farmers’ Market, hosted by the Fayette Progress Council, will take place through Saturday in the parking lot at 8 E. Main St. across from the State Theatre Center for the Arts, beginning at 8:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Items for sale include locally grown fruits, vegetables, plants, flowers, baked goods, crafts, candles and furniture. The Smock Historical Society Museum is open through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. or by special appointment. The museum portrays life in a Pennsylvania coal “patch” during the coal and coke era. Wright at Night, a book signing by Bernadine Hagan, will take place from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Kentuck Knob near Ohiopyle. Hagan wrote the book “Kentuck Knob Frank Lloyd Wright’s House for I.N. and Bernadine Hagan,” which has just been published. Hagan will be the guest of honor and will sign copies of her book for guests who want to purchase it. Country music will be presented Saturday at the Sagebrush Round-Up on Bunner Ridge near Fairmont, W.Va. Featured acts include Eileen Smith, Ray Hileman & Wheels of Country and Chuck & Robbie Comas. Country music starts at 6 p.m. with the open stage. The house band “Stagecoach” will back single acts and new talent. The scheduled portion of the show then starts at 7 p.m. and continues until about 11 p.m. There is a donation for adults. Children under 12 are admitted free.

Visitors will enjoy a walking tour of the village of Addison where they will some of its most illustrious citizens from the past. A unique shopping experience will be featured at the “car boot” sale in the Addison Methodist Church parking lot.
“Boots” will be open from noon to 5 p.m. Tickets are available at the Addison Methodist Church. Lunch will be served from the ladies of the church. There is a cost for adults and children ages 6 to 12. Children 6 and under will be admitted free of charge.
