Ballet Lafayette to hold auditions
Ballet Lafayette will hold auditions from 6 to 9 p.m. May 30 for its summer performance titled “Dancing Under the Stars.” The performance will be held Aug. 5 in conjunction with a fund-raiser for Ballet Lafayette.
“The evening promises to be as exciting, unique and elegant out under the stars as the entertainment will be in the theater with our beautiful Ballet Lafayette dancers,” said Kelly Jenkins, director of Ballet Lafayette.
Another unique aspect of the performance is that it will feature various styles of music and dance. From a hard rock modern piece to a more traditional classic piece, the performance will have something for everyone.
In order to give each of the four pieces separate identities, four separate choreographers have been invited to participate.
“I am very excited to be choreographing a modern dance piece for ‘Dancing Under the Stars,’ and I can’t wait to work on this project,” said Amanda O’Brien, a principle dancer for the company that will be participating as a choreographer.
“The performers are going to be dancing to excited music that will have the audience rockin’ and rollin’ in their seats,” O’Brien said. “This performance will be extraordinary event that is going to provide entertainment appealing to everyone.”
The audition is open to advanced dancers who have training in jazz, modern or classical ballet.
Those interested in auditioning should arrive at the State Theatre Center for the Arts in downtown Uniontown at 6 p.m. Dancers experienced in Pointe are asked to bring their shoes with them.
