Concert organist and recording artist Diane Bish will present an organ recital at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church on Gallatin Avenue in Uniontown at 7 p.m. today. Hailed as the “First Lady of the Organ,” Bish last appeared at St. Paul’s in the fall of 2002. Seating for the Bish concert is limited, and tickets are available at Judy’s Do Re Me Music Shop at 724-438-1488 or by calling the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church office at 724-437-9000. A meet-the-performer reception and autograph session in the church social hall will follow the performance. Books and readings by Bish will be available for purchase at that time.A spaghetti dinner will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Adah Volunteer Fire Department. The spring cleanup for Downtown Uniontown has been rescheduled for Saturday. The event was originally scheduled for Saturday, April 22, but it was canceled because of rain. Anyone who is interested in participating is asked to meet in Storey Square at 9 a.m. Buckets, gloves, trash bags and vests will be provided to participants. Longaberger Basket Bingo will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Brownfield Community Center. The event will benefit the Dawson Grange Fair. Longaberger baksets filled with great prizes will be sponsored by local businesses, including the Povertyneck Hillbillies. The event will feature food, drinks, raffles and a Chinese auction. The McClellandtown Volunteer Fire Co. will hold an indoor hog roast from 1 p.m. until midnight Saturday. Live music will be provided by the band Nuff Sed from 7 to 11 p.m. Food and refreshments will be available. There is no admission charge.
A presentation titled “Silent No More,” voices speaking for the unborn child and his/her right to life, will be held at 7 p.m. today at the Uniontown Holiday Inn on Route 40 West. The event will be presented by “Standing In the Gap,” a group of Christian believers committed to address issues concerning Christian and moral values that affect everyone but also will have ramifications for future generations. Blacksmith Hammer-In & Plow Days will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Fort Allen Antique Farm Equipment Association, which is located near the West Overton Museum in Scottdale.
